The Indonesian Catholic Community in Frankfurt and its surroundings (MKIF) was founded in June 1980. In the beginning, the Indonesian Catholic community did not know each other, and people still joined the Perki Matheus (Indonesian Christian Fellowship). Then the idea arose to occasionally bring in a pastor. Then imported from St. Augustin Pastor Klemens (a German who can speak Indonesian).
The meeting in Perki was still running for about a year by occasionally bringing in Pastors from various cities. Until one day the idea emerged to establish their own Catholic association because of their desire to attend Catholic mass in Indonesian. Masses at that time were held in alternating Catholic family homes, guided mainly by the late Father Urbanus Tongli. One time thanks to the active Exodus. Sumardi at the parish of St. Johannes, Father Newman (the parish priest of St. Johannes at that time) gave MKIF a room in Frankfurt-Unterliederbach as a meeting place. Until the end of 2004 MKIF routinely held mass in Frankfurt-Unterliederbach. Since early 2005, Mass and other activities have been held at the parish of St. Antonius Frankfurt Rödelheim. [1]
